Britons
are spending more than £300 million a year on stag and hen nights, with
men forking out twice as much as women to have a final fling before
their wedding, according to a new report.
Men spent twice as much as women, with some parties lasting a week at a cost of more than £500.
A
survey of 600 people by Teletext Holidays found that the average cost
of a stag night was £215, compared with £106 for a hen event.
A third of parties lasted from Friday to Sunday, while one in 20 stag parties dragged on for a whole week.
London was the top destination for a pre-wedding celebration, followed by Blackpool and Edinburgh.
Other popular places for painting the town red included Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester.
One in five stag parties ended up at a strip or lap-dancing club, while others involved tying the intended to a lamp post.
Marc
Bell, director of marketing at Teletext, said: "Those of us who have
been on stag or hen dos recently will have found that they are becoming
more of a mini-holiday than a night out."
The study was held to mark the launch of Teletext's new hotels channel.
