Liverpool's John Lennon Airport has emerged as one of the biggest winners of budget airline easyJet's eagerly anticipated expansion plans.
The no-frills airline announced 14 new routes today (January), four of which start from Liverpool.
New services from Liverpool to Krakow in Poland, Faro in Portugal
and Marseille in France will be launched in April, with flights from
Liverpool to Mahon in Menorca beginning in July.
Tickets will be available from Friday (January 6).
The four times-a-week service to Krakow will begin on April 11, with one-way fares from £25.99, including taxes.
On the following day, the no-frills airline will launch a daily
service to Faro and a three times a week service to Marseille. Fares
begin at £30.99 and £27.99, respectively.
In a bid to snare more summer sun tourists, a twice-weekly service
between Liverpool and Mahon will be launched on July 22, with fares
starting at £30.99.
Daily flights will also begin between Luton and Lisbon from March 1,
with nine other routes unveiled between various continental hotspots.
But the airline says it is not done yet.
"14 new routes for the coming summer season is just the beginning of
our plans for expansion during 2006, which will be an exciting year for
easyJet," said Andrew Harrison, the airline's boss.
"Look out for announcements about more new routes to more destinations over the coming months."
The new additions bring easyJet's total number of routes to 247.
